Things have changed

We are starting a new rescue group. For now I'll call it Amanda's Pet Rescue, for my Great Dane Amanda.
Amanda was the victim of a brutal home crop job. When she was left maimed and bleeding, her owners dumped her at the county pound. Amanda is also what is known as a Wobbley, or Wobbler. Her spinal cord is rubbing on her spine, and the neurological result of that is that she pretty much wobbles, but she doesn't fall down (much). It took us a while to figure out what was wrong with her. She had been misdiagnosed as Dysplastic.

Amanda is under the care of a good Vet, and I am happy to say that she is doing very, very well. She is controlled on Chondroitin, and at this time requires no pain meds. She runs around the yard and plays with the other dogs...she is a happy boisterous dog, in spite of her handicaps.

When we got Amanda from the pound, we considered having her long ear cropped to be even with the other one.
Everyone agreed that her ears are beautiful the way they are. I consider them a badge of honor, and Amanda is a portrait in the nobility and courage that is a dog.

Amanda is sometimes available to sell kisses for donations for various rescue groups here in Tucson.
